How to Write a Blog Post People Really Want to Read

If you read this post, then you may feel accustomed to writing something you really enjoyed, only to find that only 10 people have read it. Hopefully, most of us are there including myself.

As a blogger and online marketer, I am often asked the secret to attracting readers and keeping them coming back to find out more. I have a 6 year old blog. Back in 2013, I used to visit about 100 a month. And then things changed, when I came to know the secret of attracting students.

I started getting 100 visits a day which grew and grew to 10000+ visits per day in 2019. So, let me tell you my secret about writing blog posts that people really want to read.

  • These tips have been working for me and I hope they will work with you.
  • Know Your Audience As You Know Your Best Friend

Before you can hit the keyboard to create an amazing post that can attract only 10 tours in total, you need to have a clear understanding of your target audience. Ask yourself these questions:

  • Who are they (gender, age)?
  • What do they do for a living?
  • What do they want to learn?

Understanding your audience better will help you build engagement with your blog posts. When you write something familiar, it falls into the dark hole of the internet i.e. it does not attract anyone's attention. Writing something your audience really wants to read separates your blog from thousands of online blogs.

Choose a Topic That interests you too

Usually, I start thinking about the title and a few keywords. The first few things you write should not be clever, but you should have something to give you an idea of what you want to say and what direction you will take.

I have seen people not spend enough time walking in different ways and ideas about what they can write. You should take the time to circle the blank word document and upgrade it to an open minded state.

Get your own Writing Style

Once your article title and first impression have been filtered, it's time to write. But before that, you need to define your writing style and tone. What writing style do you have? Do you keep your content short and fun? Or do you like to write long, detailed articles? Do you get personal, or are you just talking about business?

It's up to you what style you write and the tone you maintain unless your content is boring to read. But here are a few things you should not try to do:

  • Be the wrong person
  • Using a lot of vocabulary to impress people
  • Fill in the keyword unnecessarily
  • Write a Wonderful Introduction

You need to be happy while writing an introduction if you want your readers to stay on the blog post. You need to catch their attention with an unstoppable introduction. But this amazing introductory writing takes time and a lot of practice. You can also be fooled by:

  • Start with a question that may make people think or worry

Tell the truth or make an announcement

These tricks may sound obvious but make sure your introduction is actually related to your body of content, otherwise, your readers will feel like they were wasting their time reading and that they have been deceived.

Choose a Super-Catchy theme

After you’ve typed the last sentence of your article, it’s time to make art on the topic of your blog post. You had enough imagination when you started writing, but now you need to create a title that matches the last words of your post.

It's harder than it sounds. Deciding on a topic can take as long as it took to write that article. You need to be perfect in choosing the topic to draw the reader's attention.

Bottom Line

Once you have published a number of blogs, it is time to go back and read them. Check your writing tone, any grammar problems and any updates that may be mentioned in existing blogs. Keep your reader happy and will keep coming back to your blog to discover something new.
